Mulder's work emanates a brooding gravitas, reflecting the timelessness of the East Cape landscape - vegetation exhausted by weather extremes; vast skies; bleaching heat and black shadows.

Kenn Kropf was born in East London in 1968. He spent most of his youth in the former Transvaal, engrossed in hobbies such as astronomy and physics and airplane building.
After studying Electrical Engineering, he travelled abroad, living and working in The Czech Republic, Germany and England, before moving to Zambia.
In 2005 Kenn returned to South Africa and, inspired by the art he’d admired in the galleries in Europe, he took up a paintbrush for the first time. In the summers of 2007 and 2008 Kenn spent several months in Provence, France painting rural landscapes and medieval villages.
Kenn now divides his time between Hermanus and Bedford in the Eastern Cape.
Kenn’s preferred medium is oil on canvas and he is inspired by, amongst others, Vlaminck, Schiele and Gregoire Boonzaaier.

I am a textile artist with a particular passion for stitch and natural fibre. My next exhibition: 28-30 October 2011 at Maasström farm, Bedford, ECape. Otherwise see my work at The Studio, Donkin Street, Bedford.
Nature supplies all my ideas, that’s why I live in a country town. Playfulness is the spirit I aspire to. Craft is the basis of my practice which is rooted in centuries-old tradition.
For the past few years I have engaged with ideas to do with drought. Now I am visually preoccupied with the sense of being engulfed in a fathomless landscape.
My work has been exhibited in group shows in Japan, Korea, France, the UK, the USA, New Zealand and South Africa. I have sold to private collectors in the UK, the USA, New Zealand and South Africa.
I majored in Fine Art at the University of Natal and I have attended workshops with Kaffe Fasset (UK), Gloria Loughman & Pam Holland (Australia), Clare Smith (New Zealand), Doerte Bach (Germany), Rosalie Dace, Odette Tolksdorf and Paul Schutte (all South Africa).

We are proud to announce that Bob will be Exihibiting at the Bedford Spring Arts and Crafts Exihibition during the Garden Festival A little about me and my work.
The fabric of the African landscape must be one of, if not the most diverse and varied on the face pf the earth. I am indeed fortunate to be situated more or less in the middle of it, here in the Eastern Cape, within easy reach of the most beautiful coastline on the world, lush tropical Natal, the arid semi-Karoo and the incredibly varied Orange Free State as well as the exquisite tapestry of so many human cultures.
The growing awareness of the Eastern Cape as a game farming area is drawing viewers and hunters from all corners of the earth. The area also boasts perhaps the highest concentration of pedigree livestock farmers in the R.S.A.
All this put together makes it a veritable Eden for an artist. My own life has a pedigree cattle background and my deep love for all in nature makes painting in this sort of environment not only a pleasure but also a privilege.
I have put together a small token of some of my work in the hope that something may catch your eye. Commissions make up much of my work and orders can be placed. Accompanying photographs are very practical as much of my work is done in the studio. Overseas orders can be done on canvas which can be rolled making it easy to transport.
My urgent quest is to capture as much as I can on canvas for I fear that so much of what we know and love may change or disappear forever.

"Leigh Smith’s 1820 Settler ancestry firmly roots her art in the Eastern Cape, so local history, fauna & flora weave their way into her works. Her diverse artworks explore painting, drawing & sculpture and combinations thereof. Canvases are highly narrative & sometimes poetic; their aesthetic appeal draws you, while their intricacies keep you pondering. She uses stitching both symbolically and to attach objet de art. Other unique attributes of her work include canvases with “windows” that contain sculptures; mixed media plates & vessels; and large driftwood sculptures. Many pieces incorporate ceramics, metal, wood, wirework, slumped/fused glass and mosaic. Her work carries a powerful message of hope, healing and restoration.
Recently, the East London IDZ commissioned her for over 80 artworks, celebrating Eastern Cape heritage through painting, sculpture & mosaic. Another large collection of her work is at the Amakhala Game Reserve near Grahamstown. Other works are in private collections in South Africa, Germany and the USA."
