Bedford village is really picturesque and full of interesting and attractive buildings.
The Town Hall, although modern, has been built in the Cape Dutch style. The library is in a pleasing porticoed neo-classical style.
The Presbyterian Church is a traditional stone church while the old Dutch Reformed and Anglican Churches are immaculate gems of their genre.
The Bedford Club, the old prison, the Stone House, the Manse and numerous homes in the village represent the best examples of period architecture.
There are also several arts and crafts galleries as well as a factory producing solid wood furniture from indigenous timber.
