About Donkerhoek Farm

A wide variety of vegetables takes centre stage in this hillside garden behind a restored ancestral home. ‘We use heirloom seeds because they germinate fantastically and the produce has better flavour,’ says Barbara. Visitors can visit the mini farmyard where a cow, hens and turkeys help with compost making. The garden feeds the household and the staff with whom the Church’s enjoy a symbiotic relationship.

Entry: Donation for farmworker’s skills training
Eat with your eyes in Barbara’s garden around a recently-restored 1869 farmhouse. Celebrate the abundant glamour of healthy vegetables jostling one another for space in the open courtyard garden and bursting with joie de vivre in the veggie patch beyond. They grow it all from heritage seed, much of it harvested in the garden!  (Ask how they chopped the beds into the dolorite just below the soil surface.)
Fine  TEAS, special COFFEE , fresh SCONES with jam and farm cream.

Entry fee goes towards staff skills upliftment.

Tea, Coffee and Fresh scones with Jam and cream available.
