The Duke of Bedford Inn

On Donkin Street, in the heart of the picturesque village of Bedford you’ll find a charming hotel called ‘The Duke of Bedford’. The old Victorian building, which for many years stood in ruin, has been lovingly restored and upgraded and 17 comfortable en-suite rooms, one suite and two self catering apartments have been created within the original old stone walls. In the traditional wing the worn old wooden floors are testament to the history of the building and wherever possible as much of the old has been retained. 

The hotel offers wifi, television and air conditioners and a generator ensures that service is not interrupted. Our hotel restaurant opens daily from 7am to 9pm and seats up to 70 people. Our bar is fully licensed. 

Two conference rooms, our ballroom and two sheltered courtyards, with large braai facility and outdoor bar, offer venues to host a variety of events from a small formal meeting room for 14 people to a celebration dinner for 200. We also cater for weddings. Our 20m swimming pool and large chapel provide the perfect setting for your special day.

Secure off street parking is available and staff is on duty 24 hours a day.

At The Duke’s Lodge in Porter Street nearby, we offer three additional en-suite rooms for unique family or group accommodation, a spacious reception area and large balcony overlooking an indigenous garden with splendid view of the Bedford mountain.
